The Ninth Station -- Jesus Falls the Third Time
But I am a worm and no man: the reproach of men
and the outcast of the people. Ps. 21:7
Bereft of his strength, lying on the ground –
What humble prayer can reach – comfort – you there?
Loving Lord, what pain with me will you share?
Seemingly oblivious to the sound
Of soldiers, onlookers, circling around –
Numb me, dear Jesus, to all worldly care:
Let me comfort you, O Lord. Hear my prayer.
To death Christ was dragged, with chains tightly bound.
We see with fear your person in anguish,
Open our eyes to the Father’s true Son,
Know the terrible height a saint can wish
To die with Our Savior with sin undone.
Holy Ghost, speak now and tremble my ear,
Call me far past the night of fallen fear.
