The Eighth Station -- Jesus Comforts the Women of Jerusalem

There shall be declared to the Lord
  a generation to come.  Ps. 21:32

On his way what words was Jesus sharing?
 “Daughters of Jerusalem, your children ....
Days come will say: blessed are the barren.”
 Death was not, the Son of Man’s life, sparing –
Sapping his strength in prophecies glaring:
 The horrifying fate of faithless men
Crying, “Cover us!” to hill and mountain.
 Mournful women lamented, babes bearing.

Today are holy masses attended?
 How well instructed are priest and parish?
Are God’s Commandments but recommended?
 What sacred rites and devotions perish?

The tears of each age the women renew
 Until with Christ the world is forged anew.
