The Way

The Man who has nothing to hide, hides all:
All of our woeful turnings to and fro,
All the deep yearnings we care not to show.
His eyes shine over us.  His words gently call
To leave off desires, to grow straight and tall.
  Hesitantly we hearken, knowing no
Way but our own and not how to follow.
In our confusion, He redeems our fall.

Our eyes begin to see, our thoughts to shine
As another Kingdom comes into view.
He walks ahead – in sight, our hopes renew.
With prayer to strengthen, with love to refine,
We grow accustomed to the Lord’s command,
And yearn to settle in the Eternal Son’s land.
